The great and the good of British Hillclimbing gathered together at the impressive Best Western Plus
Manor Hotel Near Solihull on Saturday 13th January to celebrate a fantastic 2023 season. Headline
BHC sponsor Avon Tyres were there in force, as were representatives of various class sponsors and
the wider Hillclimb world.
Major award winners on the night included Wallace Menzies, winning an impressive fourth British
title in his Gould GR59. A fantastic achievement when you consider the stiff opposition that he was
up against.
Johnathen Varley was presented his award for winning the class based BHC Cup presented by Classic
Car Insurance Broker Footman James. His GWR Predator with its unique 2 litre TKD YV8 engine
secured an amazing sixteen class wins during the season to finally secure a hard fought victory.
Damien Bradley was crowned as the inaugural BHC Tin Top – Top Ten Challenge Trophy winner in his
800+ horsepower Subaru Legacy. His battle with co-driver Steven Darley will live long in the memory.
Their battles, often joined by Simon Bainbridge in the massive Audi engined SBR Chrono were
certainly a sight to behold.
Watch out for more exciting announcements in the lead up to the season ahead.
