Stars align for Hall on Dream Run

Will Hall has always been a constant threat over the past few seasons, but 2026 feels a little different. The momentum is building for a genuine title challenge this year.
The Englishman has finished third in each of the past two seasons and would dearly love a lower number – especially the #1 adorning his Avon-shod Gould GR59 in 2027.
The Vanity Hall driver got his 2026 campaign off to a flyer with the fastest time of the day at Prescott and the second run-off victory. The trip over the water to Northern Ireland saw him break the record twice, but the thorn in the side was Matt Ryder, who went that little bit quicker as well on both run-offs.
A run of second-place finishes saw his consistency rewarded with the championship lead after Harewood. Arriving at Shelsley Walsh, Hall was confident of a strong showing, admitting he prefers the faster hills to the more technical challenges. With new tarmac laid on the Worcestershire hill, it was a matter of when, not if, the record would fall.
Will sensed his opportunity – the stars aligned. The driver felt good, the car was on point, the weather was perfect, the grip was there... the time was there for the taking.
“After qualifying on 22.8, I didn't quite think it was going to be that. And then Matt did a 22.54 in the run-off. I don't like knowing what I've got to do, but I just got on and drove it.
“It wasn’t all perfect, but it wasn't far off. There's a little bit more, I think, into Bottom Ess, but it's about being brave enough to stay on the throttle a little longer.
“I just want to keep the record until August. After that, it could be a different story as more rubber goes down.
“It is very special, as I've been coming here all my life – since I was in a pushchair. I just wish my dad was here to see it.”
An amazing achievement – to hold the record on one of the most famous hills in the world. Will Hall sits at the top of the timesheets and top of the championship standings.
Next stop: Doune, where Will has enjoyed success before. What will the 2026 visit hold?
