THE BHC SEASON HEADS TO AN EXCITING CONCLUSION

BHC_2024_NOVA.png

With three events remaining, the 2024 British Hillclimb Championship (BHC) presented by Nova Motorsport is coming to an exciting conclusion. Current Championship leader Alex Summers looks like he has a healthy lead in the Cosworth engined DJ Firestorm. As dropped scores come into play however, Matt Ryder has a slight advantage as he looks to take his first BHC crown in the Gould GR59-Judd.

The 2024 season has proven to be another absolute classic. A stunning mid-season run by Alex, seemed to put him in pole position to become the 2024 BHC Champion. After a couple of setbacks Matt came back fighting. A run of six successive run-off wins, two with new outright records, putting him in a great position, heading into the business end of the season. The remaining events at Prescott, Doune and Loton Park in the month of September are key, with the Championship not likely to be decided until the final round at Loton Park at the end of the month.

Current BHC Champion Wallace Menzies has had a character building season in his Cosworth engined Gould GR59. A major accident at the opening event at Craigantlet was a major setback. Recent events have indicated that the car is now doing what Wallace wants it to do and should help him improve on his current fifth place overall.

Also having a great season is David Warburton in the Hayabusa engined Gould GR59. Consistently winning his class, David looks set for a top three spot, as well as a top ten BHC number overall. This would be quite a season for the Herefordshire based driver. Matt Ryder holds third with the hard charging Stuart Bickley in fourth in his 1070cc motorcycle engined Force TA. Jimmy Harris is another driver to consistently win his class and currently sits in fifth in his Formula Ford Van Diemen RF85.
